Doing Something for the First Time

This week, I got to do something that I have never done before.  I road on a motorcycle!

It was really amazing.

I've never done that before and it really inspired me.  I want one when I grow up.

As a kid, I get to do things for the first time a lot.  That's how I grow.

This week, do something that you have never done before.  Maybe you'll grow a little.  Maybe you'll discover a new passion.  Just get out there and do it.

You'll be glad you did.

Love,
Evan

Evan Takes a Risk

This week we went to a new park.  It had an amazing play area.  It had 3 levels and was 30 feet high.

I was a little scared at first, but I did it anyway.

When I am scared, I look at where I am going. I focus on what I am doing now.  I recognize the fun I am having.

When I do that, I am no longer scared.

This week, if there is something that scares you, look at where you are going, focus on the now, and recognize the fun you are having.

You'll be glad you did.

Love,
Evan

Raining Squirrels

Last year, several little squirrels fell from one of our trees.
They were super cute and had a lot of energy. (Click on the picture to get a better look).

We found a woman who helps squirrels way out in Thousand Oaks to take them .

In a few months, we got them back released them back in our yard.  We even got a few extras.

Now we get to have fun watching them eat the peanuts we leave them every morning.

It feels great to save a life.

This week, look for someone or something that needs a little help and help them.

You'll be glad you did, and they will, too.

Love,
Evan

Dressing Up

I love playing dress up.

The cool thing about dress up is that I get to imagine being a superhero, a princess, a cowgirl, a fairy, or whatever I want to be.

What do you want to be?

This week, dress how you want to be.  You'll have so much fun and be glad you did. (Click on the picture to get a better look).

Sharing Some Love

This week I went to horse camp!

I made lots of new friends, both human and horse.

This is my best horse friend.  We spent a lot of time together this week and shared lots of love.

Can you see the love?

This week, visit with a friend and let them know how much you love them.

You will be so glad you did.  I mean, look at the face on Yatzee.  (click on the picture to get a better look).

Evan

Someplace Beautiful

Recently I took a trip with my family to Zion.

What a beautiful place.  I have never seen so many red rocks!

(You can click on the picture above to see it bigger)

I loved the hikes, the water, the horseback riding, and mostly, hanging out with my family.

This week, go someplace beautiful.  If you can't, this week make plans to go someplace beautiful.

You'll be happy you did.

Love,
Evan

I Love Parties

It is so much fun to hang out with all of daddy's friends when he throws a party.

It is great to see that he helps out a lot of great people, and they are so fun to be around.

I just needed to give daddy a great big hug.  It makes him feel good and me feel good, too.

This week, hug someone that you appreciate.

They'll feel good and so will you!

Love,
Evan

Do What You Love

I really love horses.  Every chance I get, I hang out with one.  This is Yatzee.  She is my Oma's horse.

For those non-German speakings, Oma means Grandma.

I don't have a horse of my own, but that doesn't stop me.  I still enjoy them when I can.

Are there some things that you love that you can't have right now?  Is there a way that you can enjoy it anyway without having to own it?

This week, go out and enjoy something you love even though you cannot own it yet.  If it's a car, go test drive it.  If it's a horse, go take a riding lesson.  Whatever it is, go do it!

You'll be glad you did.

Love,
Evan

Evan's Corner: Join the Parade

Recently I went to the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas with my family.  It was a blast!

We swam in a meandering pool.  We ate great food.  We watched cartoons.

In the evening, there was a cool parade that went through the casino.  There was drumming, and marching, and a big tube of lights.

You know what I did, I joined right in, and it was fun!

Next time you find yourself in a situation where there is a lot of fun going on, join right in.

I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Love,
Evan

Evan's Corner: A Different Perspective

Sometimes in life, one must look at things from another perspective to see it differently.

Take this picture for instance.  You can choose to focus on my brother Jace, Mommy's knee, my smiling face, or the gum stuck on the under the table.

It is up to you.

When you find yourself focusing on the gum under the table, maybe take another look and see if there is a happy face waiting to be seen by you.

Love, Evan
